Participant Follow-up#

If you have promised to give participants a chance to give feedback and veto quotes (usually in consent form or similar), you should follow up with them after the paper has been accepted (but before the camera ready deadline). Similarly, if you plan on publishing a preprint, you should also follow up with participants and give them the opportunity to provide feedback before posting the preprint online.

Pre-print Paper#

The pre-print version of the paper sent to participants usually has some note indicating that it is a working version and should not be shared further.

Example Follow-Ups#

Example: Harshini

Dear Interview Participant,

Thank you so much for your participation in our study. We learned so much from you.

We are pleased to share that our paper has been accepted at CCS, and I’ve attached the current draft for your review. We would greatly appreciate any feedback or comments you may have on the draft version.

We can incorporate content changes to the paper by September 8th, as our final version is due September 10th. However, if you have feedback or input after this date, we would still very much welcome your feedback and input for future work.

If you would like to know your participant ID for reference, please let Harshini know and she will send it to you privately.

Again, we are extremely grateful for your invaluable support and contribution to this research.

Best regards, Harshini and Helen (on behalf of: all co-authors)
